Panthers Show Parents How to Play!

Last Thursday was a beautiful day - about 78 degrees, sun shining... and us parents waiting to put the hurt on the Panthers after our last close loss.

We started off promising and scored a few goals - but Sammy, Derek, Ryan, Mark, Jace, Daniel, Aaron and Justin were just too tough for us!

The Panthers started scoring goals like there was no tomorrow... Sammy's dad tried to steal it a few times using his super speed and Derek's dad used his long legs to tap the ball free a few times, but the Panthers were too strong for us Parents!

We're proud of you Panthers for getting out there! We can see how the extra play time is helping you to be faster to the ball and have more confidence with your passing, positioning and shooting! Heck, we even learned that the ball is not officially out of bounds until it goes aaaallllll the way over the line!

And a great job to all of the parents who jumped in on the game and played a good hour of soccer... I'm still gasping for air, but it was a lot of fun!

See ya on Tuesday!

A Well Deserved Ice Cream!

After beating the gray team 5-0 and playing a phenomenal game against the orange team, the Flaming Panthers were treated to a delicious ice cream from Cold Cow!

It's really fun to have these gorgeous days and incredible focus on the field. We can really see that the boys are learning a lot and playing their positions really well. You know how well they're playing... good enough to be able to pay for ice cream with all of their goals!

Great work boys - we're very proud of you!

Panthers Roll Against Red

The Panthers got to face a few of their friends from the Indoor Team (Nino, Noah and Beck) as the sun shone on the field for a beautiful game.

The Panthers took the win in a big way, but did you notice this:

Aaron and Derek had no doubt this was a goal... and the keeper certainly agrees!

Hey, who's that on the fence...is that a ninja in training?

The Panthers really seemed to be wearing out their opponents!

Matt is Mr. Cool on the field as he tosses the ball to his midfielders.

Aaron skipped this one by the defense to Derek for a sweeeeet goal!

While Jace took the ball, Noah practiced his levitation skils!

Justin and Mitch get ready for the big kick from Aaron.

Derek chases down the ball, and the kid in red knows Derek will indeed get this one!

Holy cow - is that defenseman a Zombie? Aaaaagggghhhhh!

Sammy takes on 5 guys as he does his best impression of Ronaldinho!

Jamie and TJ push the ball up the field with some serious speed!

Mark poses for the new cover of Sports Illustrated for Kids while Aaron gets ready to kick the ball to Derek.

Mitch hustles up a storm and steals the ball from Nino.

Ryan steals another one as he works the ball up the field.

Dillon's energy shines as he blasts a ball right through the defense!

Sam gets ready to center it for a blast from TJ!

Look out everyone, here comes JJ to get the ball!

With Jace, Mitch, Dillon and Derek running full steam, we know this was going to be a Panthers ball!

Hey Dillon - is the wind blowing your hair, or are you doing an impression of Wolverine?

Mark, Ryan, Derek JJ & Jamie wait for the ball and enjoy some sun!

Oh no, that invisible ninja is back, and he just arrested Justin!

Look out - here comes a blast from Mark!

Jace steals another one and runs up the field!

Here's a math question for you: Did you know 1 Jace plus 1 Dillon minus 1 keeper equals 1 goal?!

Dillon and TJ race to grab a loose ball!

At the end of the game, Matt was held up by an invisible ninja...man, those guys are quick!

And a big thanks to Derek's parents (Pam and Karl) for taking some phenominal shots of the game!

Game on Tuesday May 5 Rescheduled

Hey Panther Parents - Tuesday's (May 5) game will be rescheduled for later in the season. So to be sure our boy's get some playing time, this Tuesday (May 5), we'll have a special game...Parents vs. Panthers!

We'll still hold our game at Masonic 2 (by the golf course), so it's easy to find.

So bring some comfy shorts and shoes and let's have some fun!

Panthers Get the Win

The Panthers unleashed a flurry of shots at the competition and netted 3 great goals.

The first half showed that Dylan, Lawrence and Matt were on a tear as they both kicked solid shots that were stopped by the best goalie in the world...a puddle in front of the net! If it were on a dry day, they each would've had a goal!

The goalie wasn't able to stop Aaron's corner kick to Sammy for a great shot in the net. And Derek showed some tenacity as he maintained his position abd put one solidly in the back of the net. Jace took no time to square up and launch a shot to the right side of the net for the third goal!

With Mark, Mitch and Ryan's help defensively, the game finished with a 3-0 win for the boys as they played really well! Congrats Panthers!

We also had a little competition after the game to see who's been practicing their ball skills, and Aaron was able to juggle the ball 6 times without it hitting the ground. This netted him a PowerAde, A Pack of 5 gum and some M&M's!

And PARENTS - be sure to practice accuracy with your son this week - Any Panther who can hit the top crossbar get a Nerds Rope!

So, ya wanna know where the fields are? Me too - so I thought this blog post would be helpful!

First Game was an Orange Crush!

The first game of the season was a bit of an eye opener, especially when playing against the top team in the league. We had some tired legs out there, and some really lethargic bodies for such a beautiful day.

Let's plan on getting the kids to the field early for Monday's game so we can stretch and get those legs ready... an extra 5 minutes of warm ups makes for a big difference in the game.

Parents - Be sure to check out the snack schedule (to the left) so you know which day is yours to bring a snack for the Panthers.

A big thanks to Lesley for bringing out the grapes, waters and snack bars today - We know how much energy Lawrence gets when he has grapes!

Congrats to You!

A bog ol' whopping congratulations to you for taking time during the cold winter months to play Indoor Soccer.

It was really different from outdoor, but did that stop you? No! Like a true champion, you showed up, improved your skills, got a bit faster, got some more soccer sense, and earned yourself a cool medal!

I hope you had as much fun playing as us coaches and parents did watching you.

Now, who's ready for some Outdoor Soccer?!
